It May Be Worth It To Challenge A Traffic Violation

The penalties for a speeding ticket or traffic violation may not seem serious, but the long-term consequences can be. Every traffic offense counts as points against your license, and they add up. I have observed many people simply paying the fine, pleading guilty or accepting the first deal that authorities offer to them. Only later do they regret the decision when it results in license suspension, a big hike in their car insurance and/or a criminal record.

If you are reinstated after being suspended, the state of Missouri starts you at four points, meaning that you are on a “short leash” for future traffic offenses. My goal is to get your traffic ticket dismissed or knocked down to a lesser offense with fewer points or no points, in order to prevent those immediate or future consequences. Challenging The Traffic Stop Or Other Aspects

As with DWI cases, the initial traffic stop must have been for a reasonable suspicion. Probable cause applies to any subsequent searches or seizures after the stop, and the police are required to follow proper procedures. If evidence was obtained through an illegal search or an invalid search warrant, I will file a motion to suppress it in court. I will also fight to recover any unlawfully seized cash or property.
